Job Description
Rightfully Sewn provides seamstress training for women so they can thrive in a specialized workforce that will reestablish Kansas City as an epicenter of garment manufacturing, while at the same time, propel Kansas City fashion designers to market so they can supply the burgeoning demand for high-quality, American-produced garments.
Rightfully Sewn is looking to expand our team with an intern who will provide critical programmatic, production, and fundraising support. 

This position reports to Jennifer Lapka, Founder and President and assists three other team members: 
Godfrey Riddle, Vice President of External Affairs
Pamela Lucas, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Sarah Watts, Production and Operations Manager

Fall internships run for 12 weeks, September–December; spring internships run for 12 weeks, January–April; and summer internships run for 10 weeks, June–August. Approximately 20 hours per week (3 days) - we can decide what days together.

We can work with your school on class credit, and there is a stipend if the hours and requirements below are fulfilled. 

  • Assist with YouTube production shoots and photo shoots;
  • Create Instagram/Facebook stories and engage influencers;
  • Attend internal and external meetings;
  • Assist with Golden Gala event planning;
  • Make donor cold calls; 
  • Create basic graphic designs;
  • Assist with Seamstress Training Program;
  • Benchmark researching;
  • Assist with photocopies, filing, errands, and other duties as assigned; and 
  • Provide your own transportation and laptop.
  • Self-starting, positive, independent, community-minded attitude;
  • High quality writing skills;
  • Event planning experience a plus; and
  • Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop a plus.
